OUR COMMITMENT

The Sarawak Housing Developers’ Association (SHDA) was officially registered with the Registrar of Societies Malaysia on 6 July 1993, with an initial membership of 27 property development companies in Sarawak. Over the years, the Association has grown significantly, boasting 252 members as of November 2024. To expand its scope and attract a broader range of members within the real estate industry beyond housing developers, the Association was renamed the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (SHEDA) on 8 November 2005. A key moment in SHEDA’s progress was the launch of the SHEDA Code of Practice on 20 April 2007, marking the Association’s dedication to professionalism and high standards.

The Association was formally launched during its inaugural dinner, held on 11 December 1993, which coincided with the Tripartite Meeting of the Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Peninsular Malaysia (REHDA), the Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (SHAREDA), and SHEDA. SHEDA is governed by a team of dynamic Council Members responsible for steering its mission and supporting its diverse membership within the housing and real estate sectors. Recognized as an official channel for communication on matters affecting the building and construction industry, SHEDA actively contributes to the broader development agenda. The Association unites members from across Sarawak, sharing a collective vision to play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing development plans to prepare Sarawak for the future.

ABOUT SHEDA

SIGNIFICANT MILESTONE

Another significant milestone for SHEDA was the establishment of the SHEDA Institute, officially incorporated under the Companies Act 2016 on 6 October 2023, to serve the construction and property development industry in Sarawak. This initiative represents an expansion of SHEDA's primary priorities, aiming to enhance industry expertise, support professional development, and address market complexities through Sarawak-centric research, industry-relevant training programs, and knowledge-sharing activities. The SHEDA Institute focuses on several core objectives; conducting property market research to tackle critical challenges and opportunities within Sarawak's construction, real estate, and property development sectors; designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive courses, workshops, and training programs tailored to the needs of property developers and industry stakeholders; and exploring new opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations with other agencies and organizations aligned with the Institute’s mission.
