HOW TO BECOME A SHEDA MEMBER

APPLICATION

  1. A person, company, firm, or corporation wishing to join submits an application for Membership to the Secretary-General (directly or via a Branch) using the registration form.
  2. For companies, firms, or corporations, the names of the Primary and Alternate Primary Representatives must be included with the application.
  3. Each application must be proposed by one existing member and seconded by another.
  4. For representation, the Member nominates a person who is over 21, acceptable to the State Council, not bankrupt or convicted of fraud/dishonesty, and resides in Sarawak.

SUBMISSION & APPROVAL

  1. The application is forwarded to the Secretary-General or the Secretary of the Branch Committee.
  2. The Secretary-General or Branch Secretary submits the application to the State Council at the earliest opportunity.
  3. The Membership application form is tabled at a State Council meeting for approval or rejection.
  4. The State Council has the absolute discretion to reject any application without providing a reason.

Approved Applicant (Rights & Representation)

  1. Upon approval, the Member can change their Primary or Alternate Representative with written notice to the Secretary-General, provided the replacement meets the criteria. The latest nomination prevails, and changes close to a General Meeting take effect afterwards.
  2. The Alternate Primary Representative can act for the Primary Representative when they are absent.
  3. One person can serve as a representative for multiple Members.
  4. The nominated Representative is fully authorized to speak, vote, attend meetings, and hold office on behalf of the Member.

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP

1.     Ordinary Member:

Any person, company, firm or corporation that carries on the business of developing houses and properties for sale, lease or otherwise (“housing and property development”) and undertakes such development within five (5) years of Membership entry is eligible to apply for Ordinary Membership of the Association which is unlimited in number.

2.      Affiliated Member

A subsidiary company of an Ordinary Member which core business is housing and property development is eligible for Affiliated Membership of the Association.

3.     Associate Member

Any person, company, firm or corporation that carries on a business that is related to the business of housing and property development is eligible for Associate Membership of the Association.
